Brad Hodge

වසර 22ක් වැනි දීර්ඝ ක්‍රීඩා දිවියකට හිමිකම් කියන Brad Hodge යනු ටෙස්ට් තරඟ 6කට පමණක් ක්‍රීඩා කර ඇති ක්‍රීඩකයෙක් නොවිය  යුතුව තිබුණි. එම ටෙස්ට් තරඟ 6දීත් ඔහු සාමාන්‍ය 55.88ක් ලෙස රඳවාගෙන ලකුණු 503ක් රැස් කලේ ය. එම ලකුණු 503 අතරට අනර්ඝ  ද්විත්ව ශතකයක් ද විය. ඒ දකුණු අප්‍රිකාවෙහි සිටි දක්ෂ පන්දු යවන්නන් වන Pollock,Ntini,Langeveldt සහ Nel වැනි ක්‍රීඩකයන්ට එරෙහිව ලෝකයේ වේගවත්ම තණතීරුව ලෙස නම් දරා ඇති පර්ත් හි දීය.

Hodge පළමු පෙළ තරඟ වලදී ලකුණු 17084ක් රැස් කරගෙන ඇති අතර සාමාන්‍ය 48.81ක් ලෙස සටහන් වේ. ශතක 51ක් සහ අර්ධ ශතක 64ක් එයට ඇතුලත් ය. තවද Hodge list A තරඟ වලදී ලකුණු 9127ක් රැස්කරගෙන ඇති අතර සාමාන්‍ය 43.25ක් සමගින් ශතක 29ක් ලබාගෙන ඇත. Hodge තමාගේ පළමු පෙළ දිවිය ආරම්භ කරමින් එම වර්ෂයේදී  (1993/94) ලකුණු 991ක් වාර්තා කළේය. ඔහුගේ රිද්මය ඔහු දිගටම පවත්වාගෙන ගියද ඔහුට ජාතික කණ්ඩායමේ ස්ථිර ස්ථානයක් ලබාගැනීමට නොහැකි විය.

Hodgeට තම ස්ථානය අහිමි වුනේ ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු කණ්ඩායමේයේ සිටි දක්ෂ ක්‍රීඩකයන් නිසා ය.90 දශකයේදී Steve Waugh,Mathew Hayden, Justin Langer,Ricky Ponting,Damien Martyn වැනි ක්‍රීඩකයන්  සහ 2000 වකවානුවේදී Mike Hussey and Michael Clarke වැනි ක්‍රීඩකයන්  නිසාය. 2008දි Hodge ටෙස්ට් තරඟයකට ක්‍රීඩා කළේය. බටහිර ඉන්දීය කොදෙව්වන්ට එරෙහිව එම තරඟයේදී ඔහු ලකුණු 67ක් රැස් කළේය. ඉන් පසු Hodge ටෙස්ට් තරඟයකට ක්‍රීඩා කලේ නැත.

Hodge ඔස්ට්‍රේලියාව වෙනුවෙන් එක්දින ජ්‍යාත්‍යන්තර තරඟ 25කට ක්‍රීඩා කර ඇති අතර 2007දි නවසීලන්ත කණ්ඩායමට එරෙහිව නොදැවී ලකුණු 99ක් සහ 97ක් ලබාගත්තේය. එයින් නොනැවතී 2007 ලෝක කුසලානයේදී නෙදර්ලන්ත කණ්ඩායමට එරෙහිව අගනා ශතකයක් වාර්තා කළේය. ඉන්පසුව ඔහුට එම තරඟාවලියේදී කිසිදු අවස්ථාවක් හිමිවුයේ නැත.දේශීය T20 තරඟාවලි වලදී දක්ෂ ලෙස ලකුණු රැස්කළ Hodge T20 ජ්‍යාත්‍යන්තර තරඟ 15කට වඩා ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට තරම් වාසනාවන්ත නොවිය.

Hodge shouldn't have been a player to have played just six tests in a career extended for twenty long years. In his short stint as a test player he has scored 503 runs at an average of 55.88 which includes a magnificent double hundred against the likes of Pollock,Ntini,Langeveldt and Nel at Perth, the fastest track on earth. His first class figures of 17084 runs at 48.81 with 51 centuries and 64 half centuries speaks for himself. Hodge also has an illustrious list A record scoring 9127 runs at 43.25 with 29 centuries

Hodge started his first class career in a commanding way scoring 991 runs in his first season(1993/94) He continued his form throughout his career but couldn't cement his place in the team. He had lost his place in the side to the likes of Steve Waugh,Mathew Hayden,Justin Langer,Ricky Ponting,Damien Martyn in the 90s and Mike Hussey and Michael Clarke in 2000s. In 2008 Hodge played a test against West Indies and scored 67. He never played test cricket after that.

Hodge who played 25 ODIs for Australia scored a 99* and a 97* against New Zealand in 2007. He followed it up with a century against Netherlands in 2007 World Cup and didn't get a chance to play in the tournament after that. Despite piling up runs in domestic t20s he wasn't lucky enough to play more than 15 t20 internationals.
