Stuart MacGill යනු මෑත කාලයේ බිහිවූ අවාසනාවන්තම දඟ පන්දු යවන්නා ලෙස හැඳින්විය හැක. ක්‍රිකට් ඉතිහාසේ එතෙක් මෙතෙක් පහල වූ විශිෂ්ට දඟ පන්දු ලෙස හැඳින්විය හැකි Stuart MacGillගේ පන්දු යැවීමේ strike rate (කඩුල්ලක් ලබාගැනීමට තරඟයකදී යවන පන්දු ගන්නේ සාමාන්‍ය)54ක් ලෙස සටහන් වේ.

Stuart MacGill is probably the most unluckiest spinner in modern generation. He is one of the best leg spinners in cricket history who had the best test strike rate(54) among modern day spinners.

It's hard to believe that a spinner who averages 5 wickets for a test match didn't played more than 44 test matches.Yes MacGill just played 44 test matches and taken 208 test wickets.And he is a non asian too.

The reason for this is he was born in a wrong era in wrong country. Yes its cause of Shane Warne. Because of Warnie and Australia who normally playing test with 1 spinner and 3 or 4 fast bowlers MacGill's chances were very limited. Yet he had performed very well when he got chances. But those performances were not good enough for him to play more than 44 test matches.

His chances mainly came in when Australia decided to play with 2 spinners when they have played in Asia and in West Indies. And also in Australia's spinning friendly grounds like SCG and Adelaide Oval.

Also he got few chances after Warne's retirement and when Warne serving that drug ban.

He played his most games against West Indies where he played 16 tests against them.Its a shame that he didn't played any tests in England,South Africa,New Zealand and India. He has done well against all the oppositions he had played against except India and Sri Lanka where he averaged over 50.

Because of Warne and Australia's playing style 1 series failure is enough for MacGill to miss the next series. So he was never played consistently for Australia.But when Warne and MacGill played in tandem MacGill had a better record than Warne.

Despite having a more than decent List A Career ( 193 wickets in 107 matches at an average of 22.52 and a strike rate of 27) MacGill never considered as a serious contender for the One Day International team where he ended his career with just 3 ODIs to his name.
