ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවෙන් බිහිවූ තවත් එක් අවාසනාවන්ත ක්‍රීඩකයෙකු වන Stuart Lawගේ පළමු පෙළ වාර්තාව අතිවිශිෂ්ට වේ. ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ Queensland ප්‍රාන්ත කණ්ඩායමට  සහ පුරවැසි භාවය ලැබීමෙන් පසු එංගලන්තයේ Essex සහ Lancashire කණ්ඩායම් වෙනුවෙන් ක්‍රීඩා කරමින් ලකුණු 27080ක් සමගින් සාමාන්‍ය 50.52ක් වේ.පළමු පෙළ ශතක 79ක් ඔහු සතුය. Queensland කණ්ඩායම මුල් වතාවට Sheffield පලිහ දිනාගන්නා විටදී එම කණ්ඩායමට නායකත්වය ලබාදුන්නේ  Stuart Law විසිනි.

ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු පිතිකරණයේ ස්වර්ණමය යුගයේදී ඉපදීම ඔහුගේ අවාසනාවට හේතු විය. ඔහුට කණ්ඩායමේ ස්ථානයක් වෙනුවෙන් තරඟ කරන්නට සිදුවුයේ Waugh, Taylor, Ponting, Langer and Damien Martyn වැනි ක්‍රීඩකයන් සමගය. 1995දී ශ්‍රී ලංකා කණ්ඩායමට එරෙහිව පර්ත් හිදී ටෙස්ට් වරම් දිනාගන්නා ලද Law, එම තරඟයේදී ඔහු නොදැවී ලකුණු 54ක් රැස්කළේය. ඔහුට එම අවස්ථාව හිමිවුයේද  Steve Waughට සිදුවූ අබාධයක් නිසාවෙනි.

Law තම පළමු පෙළ රිද්මය දිගටම පවත්වා ගනිමින් Queensland, Essex සහ Lancashire කණ්ඩායම් වෙනුවෙන් ලකුණු රැස් කලේ ය. එංගලන්ත ප්‍රාන්ත ක්‍රිකට් තරග වලදී 1999 සිට 2004 දක්වා සෑම වසරකදීම ඔහු ලකුණු 1000 සීමාව පසුකර ගියේය. පළමු පෙළ තරඟ වලදී දක්ෂ ලෙස ක්‍රීඩා කලද එක්දින ජ්‍යාත්‍යන්තර තරඟ වලදී දැක්වූ දුර්වල ක්‍රීඩා විලාශය නිසා ඔහුට ටෙස්ට් කණ්ඩායමේ ස්ථානයක් හිමිවුයේ නැත. එක්දින තරඟ 54කදි ඔහුගේ සාමාන්‍ය 27ක් ලෙස සටහන් විය. බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය පුරවැසි භාවය ලැබීමෙන් පසුව ඔහුට එංගලන්ත කණ්ඩායමට ක්‍රීඩා කිරීමට හැකියාව තිබුනද ඔහුගේ වයස එයට එරෙහි වීය.

Law ඔස්ට්‍රේලියානු ක්‍රිකට් යුගයේ ස්වර්ණමය යුගයේදී ඉපදීම ඔහුගේ අවාසනාව විය. ඔහු වෙනත් රටකට ක්‍රීඩා කලේ නම් එදා මෙදාතුර බිහිවූ දැවැන්ත ක්‍රිකට් චරිතයක් බවට පත්වීමට හැකියාව තිබුණි.

Yet another unfortunate player from Australia, Stuart Law has an astonishing first class record scoring 27080 runs at 50.52 with 79 centuries playing for Queensland in Australia and after gaining citizenship of England for Essex and Lancashire. He was the first captain of Queensland to win the Sheffield Shield.

Unfortunate to be born in an era where quality batsmen were of no shortage, Law had to replace the players of Waugh's, Taylor, Ponting, Langer and Damien Martyn's calibre. He was awarded with a solitary test cap against Sri Lanka at Perth in 1995 and scored 54*. Even this chance was given to him due to an injury to Steve Waugh never to play test cricket again , left him average less.

He continued to add runs to his first class tally at a rapid pace for Queensland, Essex and Lancashire. Passed 1000 runs every English season from 1999 to 2003. Though he scored high in first class matches his poor ODI record spreading over 54 matches didn't help him gain a place in the test team. He averaged a below par 27 in those 54 games.

Even though he attained British citizenship to play for England by any chance his age didn't help him in that case. Law was Unlucky to be born in Australia in that era. Had he played for another team he could have been an all time great.
