එක්දින සීමිත පන්දුවාර ජ්‍යාත්‍යන්තර පිටියට පමණක් සීමාකල David Hussey ගේ පළමු පෙළ ටෙස්ට් තරඟ වාර්තාව ලකුණු 13981 සමග සාමාන්‍ය 52ක් ලෙස

සටහන් වේ. අර්ධ ශතක 65ක් සහ ශතක 44ක් ඔහු සතුය. ඔහුගේ සාමාන්‍ය වන 52 ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු ටෙස්ට් කණ්ඩායම නියෝජනය කල බොහෝ ක්‍රීඩකයන්ට වඩා ඉහල

ක්‍රීඩා දිවියේ මුල් කාලයේ දී මෙන්ම අවසාන කාලයේදී Chris Rogers කණ්ඩායමට කැඳවූවා සේ Hussey ද ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු ටෙස්ට් කණ්ඩායමේ අවස්ථාවක් ලැබේ යයි බලාපොරොත්තු තබාගෙන සිටියේ ය. නමුත් ඔහු හට එම අවස්ථාව මගහැරී ගියේ එම කාලයේදී ඔහුගේ රිද්මය නිසි පරිදි පවත්වා ගැනීමට නොහැකිවූ නිසා ය.

2010/11/12 කාලයේදී ඔස්ට්‍රේලියානු ටෙස්ට් කණ්ඩායමේ දුර්වල ක්‍රීඩා විලාසය හේතුවෙන් කණ්ඩායමේ අවස්ථාවක් ලැබේ යයි Hussey බලාපොරොත්තුවෙන් සිටියද ඔහුට එම අවස්ථාව හිමි වුයේ නැත. තවත් අවස්ථාවකදී කණ්ඩායමේ සිටී තරුණ ක්‍රීඩකයන් දිගින් දිගටම අසාර්ථක වෙමින් කණ්ඩායමේ දිගටම රැඳී සිටියදී Hussey ට කිසිදු අවස්ථාවක් හිමි වුයේ නැත. David Hussey යනු ඕස්ට්‍රේලියානු ටෙස්ට් කණ්ඩායමේ ක්‍රීඩා කල යුතුව තිබු ක්‍රීඩකයෙකි.

ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ බිහිවූ තවත් අවාසනාවන්ත ක්‍රීඩකයෙක් ලෙස "Baggy green" නොපැළඳ ම David Hussey ක්‍රීඩා දිවියෙන් සමුගනු ඇත.

David Hussey

Despite being dubbed as a limited over specialist, David Hussey has scored 13981 first class runs at a staggering average of 52 with 44 centuries and 65 fifties. His average of 52 is higher than most of the players who have represented Australia.

Hussey was unlucky to have started his career in the golden era of Australian test cricket when Australia had a settled test side. In limited overs cricket he averaged 32.65 at a strike rate of 90.70 which is decent for a lower middle order batsman who chips in with the ball. Was part of the Champions Trophy side which Australia won in 2009 and T20 side who reached the final of the World t20 in 2010.

Even after the early years Hussey was expecting a Test call up in his late years like Chris Rogers did. But he was unable to maintain a decent enough form at that particular time. With Australia's poor form in 2010/11/12 one would have expected a test call up for Hussey but it wasn't to be.

Hussey had to go through periods where players much younger than him and who hold lesser record failed to perform were given repeated chances. Hussey should have played test cricket for Australia. One of the unluckiest players Australia ever had will retire without donning the baggy green.
